LEVEL 5 OVERVIEW
The rationale of the programme is to provide a career path for learners who wish to develop their aesthetic practice capabilities within the health and aesthetic sector. The expected outcome of the Certificate, which is the achievement of a recognised UK qualification, is for learners to develop the skills required by organisations and the aesthetic industry globally.
This qualification will prepare learners for employment and support a range of roles in the workplace. This qualification provides a specialist work-related programme of study that provides breadth and depth of knowledge and understanding,Β along with practical skills required in the aesthetics sector. This qualification will help to prepare professional staff andΒ managers of the future in the aesthetics sector. This qualification provides a generic core of mandatory units that apply in all aesthetics contexts.
Overview
Course Intent:
This qualification has been chosen to support learners to develop their knowledge & skills to prepare them for employment as an aesthetic practitioner or move the learners to a more advanced positionΒ within their current job role. Learners will gain comprehensive skills in which they will developΒ themselves as an aesthetic practitioner in a realistic working environment. The level 5 certificate has been chosen for its ability to incorporate multiple units covering all areas of aesthetic practice, which will provide the learners with multiple working opportunities within different sectors. This qualification allows progression to level 7 qualifications in aesthetic practice.
Within the Manchester area there has been a significant increase in aesthetic practitioners over the last 12 months and it has been forecasted that a further rise within the next 12 months. Advanced aesthetics are on the increase within the beauty industry and to progress down this route a Level 5 and 7 as more regulation is needed in this industry.
Implementation:
The course structure has been designed to start with legal as this is the hardest skill to develop within the course layout. Learners can learn the skill and then practice their skills within their e-learning and online learning management systems to ensure they are ready for assessments. This unit also gives the learners insight into legal and regulatory requirements in aesthetic practice, the importance of professional standards within aesthetic practice, working collaboratively with healthcare professionals, anatomy, physiology and morphology of the aging, skin micro needling and chemical peels.Β

Entry Requirements
- A minimum of a Level 4 qualification in a related sector or;
- A minimum of 3 yearsβ work experience which demonstrates current and relevant industry knowledge.
- Current and valid Basic Life Support (BLS) and anaphylaxis management training

This level 7 course will allow the practitioner to learn facial aesthetics consultations, the psychology of facial aesthetics, Botulinum toxin injections to the face and neck, temporary and reversible dermal fillers to the face and neck, and be able to manages of complications and medical emergencies. This will allow a safe and regulated aesthetics qualification by having learning outcomes in each unit that must be met in order to successfully complete the course.
